A History Rooted in Phoenix

Virginia Auto Service has deep roots in the Phoenix automotive community. The original shop was founded in 1945 by a World War II veteran and served local drivers for decades before eventually closing. In 1994, Matt Allen discovered the boarded-up shop at the corner of 7th Street and Virginia and saw an opportunity to bring it back to life. With a commitment to quality workmanship and customer-focused service, he restored the property and reopened Virginia Auto Service, beginning a new chapter in its history.

That commitment was tested in 2004 when an arson fire severely damaged the building and several customer vehicles. Rather than close during the rebuilding process, the team continued working from three service bays that survived the fire. The experience became an important part of the shop’s story and reflected the determination behind the business. Rebuilding allowed Virginia Auto Service to continue its longstanding presence in Phoenix and carry forward the vision that had revived the shop a decade earlier.

Today, Virginia Auto Service remains locally owned and operated, continuing a story that began on the same Phoenix corner more than 80 years ago. The business has changed considerably since its earliest days, but its connection to the community and focus on dependable automotive care remain central to its identity. ASE Certified and ASE Master Technicians now carry that history forward with more than 75 years of combined experience and continuous training as vehicle technology evolves. From its beginnings in 1945 to its revival in the 1990s, rebuilding after the 2004 fire, and continued service today, Virginia Auto Service represents generations of automotive history in Phoenix.
